A collection of pamphlets, photostats of early historical records, portraits, manuscripts, and typewritten material used in writing, "The History of an Old Philadelphia Land Title, 208 S. 4th Street." Among the items are autograph letters, 1771-1796, of men prominent in Philadelphia affairs, genealogical notes on Daniel W. Coxe, John Beylard, John Bradford Wallace, and others, with information on Pennsylvania history. Other items are: Joseph H. Skelton correspondence, 1814-1817, relating to Somerset, N.J.; notes on the art of illuminating and illustrating; and papers pertaining to personal and civic affairs.

Daniel William Coxe was a Philadelphia merchant who turned to speculation in Spanish Grant lands. In 1793 he formed a mercantile partnership with Daniel Clark of New Orleans, and in 1801 they joined forces with Beverly Chew and Richard Relf, also New Orleans merchants. In 1803 Clark began extensive purchases of land in Louisiana, West Florida, and elsewhere on behalf of himself and Coxe.
